  • A Magical Day in Cinque Terre

AHH! I am finally getting around to write my post from my INCREDIBLE day spent at the absolutely breathtakingly beautiful Cinque Terre. I visited Cinque Terre a few weeks ago, and let me just tell you–it was easily the very best day of my life. Prior to visiting this stunning place, I had pinned on Pinterest pictures of it probably close to 100 times. It has always been a fantasy of mine to visit Cinque Terre and I can’t believe that I finally got the chance to actually do so. Cinque Terre is probably the most dream-like, magical place I have ever visited in my 19 years of existence and I loved every single second of my time spent there.

In terms of fashion, white is definitely the vibe of Cinque Terre, and because of this, I opted to wear my sheer white detailed roper from Anthropologie, (sold out, similar here). This roper is actually a coverup so it was perfect for the beach at the end of the day! Because it is sheer, I decided to wear a white bodysuit underneath. I love this romper and found it to be perfect for this occasion. Because Cinque Terre is a very colorful destination, I decided to accessorize accordingly with my brightly colored layered choker from Nordstrom.

Cinque Terre is composed of five small villages on the “Costa Ligure of Levante.” On this day, I visited four of the five villages, the first one being the ever so colorful Riomaggiore. Upon initially arriving in Riomaggiore, I was at an actual loss for breath. Never in my life had I seen something so beautiful. I felt completely consumed with happiness and complete and utter appreciation for the sight before me. Just like the other four villages, Riomaggiore is a coastal village and is made up of brightly colorful buildings built into cliffs. The architecture is impeccably stunning. I find it incredible that Italian architectures were so skilled back in the day that they were able to build buildings physically into cliffs–pretty amazing. Because I was visiting Cinque Terre with my class, we were on a tight schedule so unfortunately, we weren’t able to spend a ton of time in Riomaggiore; however, the time that I did get to spend there was beyond magical.

The second of the four villages that I spent time at was Manarola. While Riomaggiore was consumed with brightly colorful buildings, Manarola was made up of chic, pastel architecture–my aesthetic exactly. I would say that, architecturally speaking, Manarola was my favorite. All of the buildings of which were skillfully built into a cliff, were colored pink, green and other pretty colors. Oh what a sight they were! I loved relaxing and wandering around this absolutely beautiful village. The vibe of this village is complete and utter bliss, and I highly recommend this destination to anyone in seek of such happiness.

Third, we ventured to Vernazza. It had been a dream of mine to visit Vernazza ever since I was a sophmore in high school when I actually painted it in my art class. I can’t even begin to express how incredible it was for me to actually see it in the flesh.  To me, it seemed as though Vernazza was more of an action scene than the previous two villages I visited. What I mean is that I saw more restaurants, more shops, and most notably–more people enjoying the coastal aspect the village had to offer. I spent the most time at Vernazza, and throughout the entire time, I was entirely consumed with joy. Vernazza is a total escape from reality. It is a place in which you will feel nothing but satisfaction with life. Never before in my life had I felt so content than when I was in Vernazza. Only certain places in this world will make you feel this way, and Vernazza is definitely one of them. For lunch, my friend and I ate at a delectable restaurant located right along the coast. At this point we were absolutely ~starving~ so we indulged in servings of seafood ravioli and gnocchi–both incredible beyond words. Having some additional time to kill before heading to our final destination, we decided to do a little shopping. The shops at Vernazza are boutique style and are very beachy chic. I would definitely recommend shopping in this village if you ever get the chance to visit Cinque Terre:)

The last, but certainly not least, village in which we visited was Monterosso al Mare. Monterosso al Mare is definitely the best village if you’re in the mood for some beach time and refreshing swimming! The beach that we visited here was very picture-perfect. The coast was lined with colorfully chic umbrellas and the ocean was a beautiful clear blue. It was extremely tropical and I felt transfixed into paradise. Swimming and relaxing at Monterosso al Mare was a refreshing, absolutely perfect end to what was probably the very best day of my life.

With all of this being said, I would highly recommend visiting Cinque Terre. The entire time I was there, I felt as though I was living my greatest fantasy. I felt as though I was virtually emerged in my Pinterest board of “Dream Destinations.” Cinque Terre is one of those places that you can’t believe is real–one of those places that force you to stop and think about the overwhelming beauty that this world has to offer.

This is one of my most favorite blogs yet! Your description of the various villages of Cinque Terre brought them to life! I had to pinch myself to remind myself that I am not there, regrettably. Bellissimo!!!
